BONOBO Late Night Tales (2013 UK/EU limited edition 17-track Half-Speed Mastered double LP pressed on Audiophile quality 180gram Virgin Vinyl - Wrapped in delicately programmed drums, Simon Green’s music is at once both sombre and reassuring. If what comes out the other end is the music of Bonobo, then this is the fuel that keeps the engine running: soul, jazz, classical, pop, funk, leftfield & rock. Our ivories are warmed and tickled by Bill Evans, Matthew Bourne and Dustin O’Halloran while the brass section comes courtesy of Menehan Street Band and the Hypnotic Brass Band. Along with many others, there is also Bonobo’s special LateNightTales cover version, a brilliant reading of Donovan's 'Get Thy Bearings'. As the light dims, the unsettling sounds of Lapalux or maybe even Shlomo pierce the misty evening air, before giving way to the ethereal splendour of Eddi Front's 'Gigantic' or even Nina Simone's paean to an imagined rural idyll 'Baltimore'. Before ending once again with a reading from Benedict Cumberbatch. Complete with a download code sticker attached to one of the inners plus the high quality 30cm art print, the single-pocket picture sleeve retains its hype-stickered shrinkwrap while the vinyl remains in barely played condition)
