Accessibility

RareVinyl.com is run by Esprit International Ltd. We want everyone to be able to browse, search and buy from our shop, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, screen magnifiers or voice control.

The standard we work to

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, level AA. This is the standard referenced by the European Accessibility Act (via EN 301 549) and the one most widely used in the UK and US.

How accessible this site is

We believe this site partially conforms to WCAG 2.2 AA. "Partially" means most of the site meets the standard, but some parts do not yet.

What we have done:

  • In September 2026 we audited our main pages (home, collections, search, product pages and basket) with automated WCAG testing and keyboard-only testing, and fixed what we found: text and button colour contrast, image descriptions, keyboard focus, and carousel and pop-up behaviour.
  • We re-test the site automatically every week, so problems introduced by updates are caught quickly.
  • We do not use accessibility "overlay" widgets. We fix the site itself instead.

Known limitations

  • Older product descriptions: some of our 250,000+ listings were written years ago and may have formatting that is harder to read with assistive technology. We are improving these over time.
  • Product photos: photos of records have descriptive text, but secondary photos (back covers, labels) may not yet say which view they show.
  • Third-party features: some parts of the site are provided by other companies, including search and filtering, the wishlist, payment options, reviews and the cookie banner. We report problems to them and work around them where we can.
  • Checkout: checkout is provided by Shopify, which publishes its own accessibility information.
